DELAWARE

The state of Delaware is located next to Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It was named after an English Nobleman named Thomas West, 3rd Baron De la Warr. Even though Delware is the second smallest state in the United States, it is the sixth most densely populated.

Out of its three counties, New Castle, Kent, and Sussex, two of them have always been predominantly agricultural while New Castle County has been more industrialized.

Delaware is often referred to as the first state, since it was the first state of what would become the Untied States, to ratify the constitution in December 7 1787.

VIRGINIA

Virginia is a state located in the Atlantic region of the United States. Virginia is an interesting state in terms of its political history as many of the previous US presidents have been born there. Virginia used to be home to the Powhatan, but in 1607, the London Company established the first permanent colony, known as the Colony of Virginia.

Virginia continues to play an important role as it is home of the CIA and the Department of Defense. With time, it has switched from an agricultural foundation to an industrial and now to a technological foundation as it is an important exporter of computer chips.

MARYLAND

Maryland is a state located in the eastern, mid Atlantic region of the US. It is next to Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC. Maryland is one of the smallest states in the United States. Indeed, it has one of the smallest surface areas. However, don't let its small size deceive you. Maryland is one of the most densely populated states and is the state with the highest median household income, that is, the wealthiest state in the United States.

Indeed, even though it is small, Maryland has played a significant role in US history. It is known as the birthplace of religious freedom as it was a refugee for Catholics being persecuted in England. Today, Maryland's economy consists largely of white collar technical jobs and administrative task jobs. In part this has to do with its close proximity to the capital of the country DC.

NORTH CAROLINA

North Carolina is a state that is part of the United States and it is a neighboring state with South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.  North Carolina is one of the most populous states in the United States. In terms of size, North Carolina is the 28th most extensive state in the united states. Interestingly, North Carolina is made up of 100 counties.

While in the past, North Carolina's economy relied extensively in tobacco, fabric for clothing, and furniture, a new ball game is now in circulation. Today, North Carolina has a more diversified economy that covers energy, biotechnology, and finance.
